Captain MICHAEL PITTMAN

Just southeast of New Orleans, in some of the richest marshlands in North America, is a world-class fishery.

Being an Orvis guide in Louisiana takes experience, skill, and most of all, passion. As a Louisiana native and life-long fisherman, I’ve spent the last 15+ years guiding professionally. South Louisiana (SoLa) Guide Service grew from a love for fishing Louisiana’s waters.

I specialize in inshore fishing using conventional tackle and live bait (shrimp) from Hopedale to Delacroix (the west side of the Mississippi). Fly fishing trips are also available upon request.

Sight fishing in the Louisiana marsh is as much hunting as it is fishing; as you search for redfish, black drum, sheepshead, trout, and jack crevalle.

Being a full-time, year-round inshore fishing guide allows me to stay in tune with the subtle changes in our fishery. Whether we’re casting spinning gear with live shrimp for trout and redfish or occasionally targeting tailing redfish with a fly, one of the benefits of Louisiana fishing is our never-ending season. There is always something to catch in the marsh.

I welcome fishermen of all ages and skill levels, from first-timers to seasoned anglers.
